Monday 31 December 2018, 6:14amSo that’s 2018 done and dusted – not really a classic year, but a surprising turn-out from plucky minor brands. It was all a bit muted really – not just ad-wise, but also for Christmas UK. It’s a very odd, scary time in the UK right now as our politicians reach some form of resolution regarding Brexit.

No matter what point of view you have, chances are you’re not going to get what you want out of it. Some very scary options have been raised, and it’s all a bit of a mess, really. It’s difficult to work up enthusiasm for Christmas in this sort of environment.

Hopefully someone soon will make a firm decision about it all, and that things will start to settle down towards the end of 2019. A bit of stability will help everyone.

We shall see. We will, however, be back in 2019 with the Christmas press shows next summer, and of course we’ll be back for the Run-Up from the 100 days point on September 16th. We’ll try and keep giving you a distraction away from the national situation.
